Relay for Life

We spent a beautiful evening at the lagoon and park in Pekin last night for Relay for Life as part of a team put together by Mitch's co-workers. Here are a few pics that show the walking trail around the lake, the beautiful sunset we enjoyed, and the amazing display of hundreds of luminaria around the lagoon.

We walked about 3 miles total in laps around the lagoon throughout the hours we were there ... a mile of it after sunset and during the luminaria ceremony, which was very inspirational. Next year the kids want to camp and spend the night, and it would have been the perfect weather to do it this year. We stayed until about 10 pm and things were starting to quiet down for the night ... but we enjoyed our evening at a great event. It was the best of all just to be together and reflecting on my diagnosis, what we're dealing with in the present, and the hope that the future brings.

  1. It is the simple act of kindness and thoughtfulness that mean the most, I LOVE the luminary from Mitch and the kids.
