We hosted Beverly as an exchange student during her freshman year of high school, and have kept in touch in the three years since. Her parents were not able to make the trip to Chicago from China to enjoy the ceremony ... so we were happy to step in and spend a little time with her.
Soon after our visit she was on a plane, headed back to China ... but will return to the States in August to attend college at George Washington University in DC. We look forward to seeing her again soon, and even to visiting her and her family in China someday in the next few years.
These busy weekends do really take a toll on me, I have to admit. I do best many days if I can squeeze in just a short power nap, and our busier weekends lately haven't left me much of a chance to do that, and I pay for it later on! Pacing myself is tough when you're busy and want to enjoy everything going on around you.
This beautiful pin and inspirational book came my way today from a friend. It's amazing how many gifts keep arriving ... how many people continue to think of me, wish me well, and pray for my recovery. Thanks, Mary Ann.
And yet another beautiful four-leaf clover made its way to me ... this time direct from Ireland, when a friend and her family were there for a visit and thought to bring me a little Irish luck back with them. Neat that there is an actual four-leaf clover encased in the glass of the keychain. Thanks, Lisa!
