Holding Pattern

I feel like I'm on hold ... next treatment delayed until June 19 and that feels so far away, so long since my last treatment on May 29. My shingles are still there, but maybe lessening in intensity just a tiny bit. They can last 2-4 weeks, so maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part! I have had a 100 degree fever 4 nights in a row now, and hoping that stops soon!

It has been a busy week at work getting things together for a printed publication that comes out next weekend for a public event I plan ... and this weekend is our community festival in Tremont. Going out in public in a scarf is an interesting social experiment for me. People really do look at you more with a scarf on your head than if you walk by them with your regular hairstyle, and it's really obvious. They don't stare, but they do take a longer look. Perhaps its a knowing look, because they have faced a similar challenge themselves, or with a loved one. Or maybe it's someone that you know casually who hasn't heard about your diagnosis and they are processing the thought. But I definitely do get more looks in the scarf than the wig, without a doubt.


A couple of fun care packages have arrived in the last couple of days. You all continue to inspire and humble me ...

First, a package with some really pretty items from the Ford Motor Company's "Warriors in Pink" store arrived ... a t-shirt and some pretty bandanas.

And I also received two fun, handmade gifts ... knitted caps, made from a pattern called the "No Hair Day Cap" ... the brown one suggested to be more practical, and the pink one for fun! They are very soft and the inside is the same as the outside that you can see here.

Abby is loving them too and I may have to fight her for them ... good thing there are two! haha
